Job Description Job Description /n Organizes and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy programs in the hospital to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part; helps patient reach his maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of his/her capabilities. /n Job Responsibility /n * * * * * * * * * * * 1. Plans therapy program for each patient, involving physical means, such as exercise, massage, heat, water, light and electricity, as prescribed by physician. /n 2. Applies diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests. /n 3. Directs and aids patient in active and passive exercises, muscle reeducation, and gait and functional training, utilizing pulleys and weights, steps and inclined surfaces. /n 4. Gives whirlpool and contrast baths and applies moist packs. /n 5. Directs patient in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, canes, crutches, and prosthetic and orthotic devices. /n 6. Gives instruction in posture control and therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient. /n 7. Adapts conventional physical therapy techniques to meet the need of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercises. /n 8. Evaluates, records, and reports on patient’s progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team. /n 9. Requisitions supplies and equipment. /n 10. Conducts or participates in training medical and nursing personnel other workers in physician therapy techniques and objectives. /n 11. Keeps abreast of developments in the physical therapy field; introduces and demonstrates to staff members new techniques, equipments and research findings. /n 12. Performs related duties, as required. /n *ADA Essential Functions /n Job Qualification /n · Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy, required.
