Description: The nurses in our Progressive Critical Care Unit care
for some of the most medically delicate and surgically complex
patients. Conditions treated include respiratory failure, sepsis,
closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine
disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications. Candidates
must be competent in the care of medical and surgical populations.
Experience in advanced hemodynamics including pressor usage per
titration protocols is required. Nurses should be familiar with
managing antihypertensive drips, sedative drips, narcan drips,
thrombo-embolytics, and intravenous lines. Knowledge of central
venous pressure monitoring, external ventricular drains, orthopedic
traction, and infection prevention protocols is essential.
Experience with high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and oxygen
management is necessary. Candidates with large-scale adult
Progressive Critical Care Unit experience and community hospital
ICU experience tend to perform well in this environment. The
average patient load consists of 3 high-acuity patients. Competency
testing will be required shortly after application. Requirements
