Job Description:
We are seeking a Scientific Operations Manager to oversee the
end-to-end lifecycle of our biospecimen inventory. This is a
high-impact role requiring a blend of logistical mastery, technical
lab knowledge, and external-facing diplomacy. You will be
responsible for the "journey of the sample"—from the moment it is
collected from an individual or accessioned from a customer or
partner to its processing, storage, and eventual multi-omic
measurement. Key Responsibilities Biospecimen Lifecycle Management:
Direct the collection, processing, accessioning, and long-term
storage of hundreds of thousands of human biospecimens. Inventory
Systems & Oversight: Maintain and optimize Biobank Inventory
Management Systems (BIMS/LIMS) to ensure 100% traceability and data
integrity. Customer Relations & Logistics: Provide excellent
customer service; act as the primary operational point of contact
for government, academic, clinical, and biopharma customers
regarding biospecimen lifecycle Workflow Optimization: Develop and
implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to scale our
internal biospecimen processing, management, and measurement
capabilities as our volume grows. Vendor & Lab Coordination: Manage
relationships with third-party core labs and measurement providers
to ensure timely and high-quality omic data. Qualifications
Experience: 3–5 years in scientific or laboratory operations.
Experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment is strongly
preferred. Technical Proficiency: Deep familiarity with
professional biospecimen inventory systems and cold-chain
logistics. Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills;
ability to represent Alden professionally when coordinating with
external PIs and clinical coordinators. Organization: "Obsessive"
attention to detail. You should be someone who finds peace in a
perfectly organized freezer and a flawless manifest. Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences field. Bonus: Specific
experience with omics analysis (genomics, proteomics, etc.) or
overseeing samples destined for high-throughput measurement.
